Best Roaming Supports in League of Legends

Roaming is an essential skill in League of Legends. This skill is especially powerful on support, as it can enable you to single-handedly carry games. However, not every support is made the same, and not every support can excel at roaming.

This is why we created a list of the actual best roaming supports in League of Legends.

Best Roaming Supports in League of Legends

Pyke

Pyke_0 title

Pyke is one of the strongest roaming supports in League of Legends, however, he is one of the hardest champs to play as well. The strength of Pyke comes from his unique kit. His W will stealth him and grant him extra movement speed. The stealth is important for getting close to enemies without them realizing and having the time to retreat, while speed is crucial for putting more pressure on enemies.

Another strong point of Pyke is his Q hook, this ability is extremely powerful in fights as it will allow us to impair enemies and bring them closer to us. On top of everything, Pyke also has a highly beneficial R, which grants an extra 300+ gold for each enemy executed.

Leona

Leona title

Leona is probably the best overall roaming support pick. The difficulty of playing this champion is between easy and medium. With Leona you will be able to game comfortably as you will have huge stacks of HP. The great amount of HP will allow you greater positioning strength, as enemies will have a harder time punishing you. It will also enable you to engage easily.

Another strength of Leona is having a bunch of CC that is pretty easy to apply. This means that in every roam you do, you will be able to chain down enemies. With all her strengths, Leona is one of the greatest roaming supports for all elos, especially low elo.

Nautilus

Nautilus-Splashart title

When it comes to champions with hooks, the greatest choice would probably be Nautilus. His hook has one of the lowest cooldowns of all the other hooks, and it is pretty easy to land. When roaming, he has a pretty nice lane setup, and he can catch almost every champ with ease. Another great benefit of Nautilus is the mini-stun he can activate on enemies by using auto-attacks. This stun is best use after landing a Q, and it’s best followed by ultimate.

Thresh

Another great hook roaming support is Thresh. Although slightly less tanky than options such as Nautilus, Thresh makes up for it with a variety of different tools. Aside from the hook, Thresh also has a pretty long-range lantern that can transfer allies from X position straight to Thresh. The lantern can be used to save allies from unfavorable fights, but it can also be used as a tool to enable allies to join fights faster.

Another notable thing about Thresh is his strength in objective skirmishes. His ultimate “the box” can cover decently large spaces around objectives, significantly impairing the movement options for enemy champions.

Final Thoughts

Roaming is one of the greatest skills a support player can develop. The best way to develop this skill is by playing champions that excel at it. My personal top recommendation for a roaming support pick would be Leona, as she has the strongest overall kit. For those who like a challenge, I would definitely recommend Pyke. Finally, for the crowd that enjoys catching and hooking people easily, I would wholeheartedly recommend Nautilus.
